Hello. I'm Carissa.

A s an author, speaker and facilitator I explore how we find connection and hope in our communities. My writing has appeared in many publications including Alberta Venture, Today's Parent and The Globe and Mail, and my essays are included in the anthologies In This Together and Broadview Anthology of Expository Prose. I have won both a National and Alberta Magazine Award. As a keynote and workshop speaker, I use humour and storytelling to engage audiences who seek to make their teams, neighbourhoods, organizations and faith communities healthier places to be.

When not writing, I have worked broadly as an inner-city non-profit director, a political advisor to government ministers, an event planner and communications consultant. In my work as a facilitator, I meld these diverse leadership experiences with my writer's listening and storytelling skills, helping organizations discover their unique path through facilitated strategic and project planning sessions.

I live with my husband and three children in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where people often asked, “Why do you live there?” My answer was to write Little Yellow House.
